Cahuita National Park

So today I woke up and planned to hike through Cahuita National Park. It is mostly flat trail that goes from one entrance to the other entrance. Apparently only 8.3 kms total. Sounds easy enough.
The trail seemed to be either sand, mud or rocks. It was never really flat and my feet are still sore from walking it. But it was well worth the walk. Many just come into the national park to swim at the beach. I was coming for the abundant wildlife.
So lets see what did I see along the way, I’ll make a list:
1. huge crabs
2. Blue morpho butterfly
3. Postman butterfly
4. 2 eyelash vipers one brown and one yellow, yes these are poisonous snakes.
5. Sloths
6. Several troops of white face capuchin monkeys
7. Some howler monkeys but rather a lot closer than I’ve been to any other monkeys in Central America.
8. lizards, lots of them.

All in all it was a pretty good walk. Plus just after the ranger station at the other end is a bar and restaurant, which I desperately needed. They also offered a taxi service back into town, which was rather handy as it was another 6kms along the road.
This internet cafe isn’t very good and I don’t wan’t to visit the internet cafe guy who was a bit rude to me earlier, suggesting the last time I was in I took his whole system down with my photo card reader. Note the use of the words whole system…. he really didn’t have a clue what was wrong.
