I’m in Montenegro. From what I can tell its the really good bit of Serbia that gained independence again about 5 years ago. Serbia and Montenegro have always been friendly, most people are related to someone in the other country, Montenegro has existed on its own in the past and also joined with Serbia willing ly in the past. However I think it will probably never join Serbia again. Montenegro is the really hot sister in the family of ex Yugoslav countries. From the amazing views of the lakes and mountains while landing to the spectacular drive up and over the coastal mountains and along the coastal road to the stunning town of Kotor. Its almost perfect in so many ways, history and nature blended together with friendly people.

In Serbia’s defence I didn’t visit for long or much of the country, but the people were unhappy with how things were left to deteriorate, or how they are building a new bridge across the Danube, but decided to also upgrade the existing bridge at the same time, causing traffic jams.
Back to Montenegro though. I’m staying in a small town of Muo across a bay from Kotor. Kotor would go close to being a Venice without canals at the foot of stunning mountains.
I’m going to attempt the climb up the mountain tomorrow, at least to the fortress propped up high with a clear view all around.

I’ve spent the day wandering, hopefully will come back in the evening for some more wandering. I hope you enjoy the photos. I think the montenegro section of my next photobook will really stand out.
