This morning I left Brasov on the train to Sibiu. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Sibiu. I was told its a good place to stop on the way to the Serbian border. I was also trying to not backtrack to Bucharest to catch an overnight sleeper from there. even flying wasn’t a good option as there are no direct flights and the least indirect involve two airlines making it as pricey as going via Vienna or Frankfurt.

But i’m glad i came now. The old town of Sibiu is just wonderful, a tight and compact walkable city, with many old churches and buildings to explore. The centres of the town is a large plaza, with two smaller plazas connected to it via walkways. Each is interesting on its own but the maze of streets and walkways between them and around the town made exploring today alot of fun. I’ve tried to leave some of the town for tomorrow of course!
Tonight is eurovision night and it looks like Sibiu is not having the big screens that Brasov has. I’ll have to go wondering around to have a look and see whats on and where.
